CHILD ASSAULT PREVENTION
SAFE, STRONG and FREE. RUN....YELL...TELL. Every year, we provide the Child Assault Prevention (CAP) Program to all students in Kindergarten, Grade 2 and Grade 5. In March, classroom sessions will be held at Mason-Rice. The workshops are lead by trained volunteers to teach children to reduce vulnerability to threatening situations. Reminder! Hazards in the BLUE ZONE at drop off and pickup. Use Crosswalks, Slow Down...Keep our children safe. Is your child’s walk to school or the school bus stop difficult or dangerous because of snow and ice? Use Newton 311 to let the City know about sidewalks blocked by snow, fallen branches and other obstacles and help make Newton safe for everyone! WALK-to-SCHOOL or RIDE the-BUS! Mason-Rice is part of a citywide effort to significantly reduce traffic around our schools. 85% of children live within a mile of school. Everyone can participate. Mason-Rice is Green! The Mason-Rice PTO is committed to helping our children to be responsible stewards of the environment through education and example. Help us to show how to care for the environment with a few simple steps: Recycle;· No-Waste Lunch; Composting; Turn-off-the-Engine; and Walk/Bus-to-School. Learn more about our Green efforts! Update or fund your child(ren) lunch accounts at www.myschoolbucks.com. If you have any questions, select the FAQs link. You can also contact mySchoolBucks Customer Care at 1-800-256-8224. You do not need to pre select lunches each day, but your child should know if they are buying lunch and what they are buying. Menus can be viewed Newton Food Services website. Each child will have an ID card with their schoolbucks account. If the account has no funds, a note and/or email will be sent.
