There are many committees made up of parents, teachers and the principal that work hard to keep our kids safe and healthy.

Traffic & Safety. Remember the Blue Zone (Drop-off and Pick-up areas) policy, use crossing areas, and don't idel while waiting in the car. IMPORTANT tips to keep everyone safe!

Lice Information. Parents should regularly their children and learn about head lice. For helpful information, click here.
Food Policy. View Newton Public School Food Allergy Policy. Mason-Rice Food Policy: To create the safest possible learning environment for all childre and to minimize the risks of accidental exposure to those allergens that pose a threat to students, and educate students about life-threatening allergies. Mason-Rice school maintains a "no sharing/no trading food’" policy, including eating utensils. Except in certain limited situations related to the class curriculum, food is not allowed for class celebrations including birthdays, holidays and the last day of school. When used as part of curriculum instruction and holiday celebrations, food is used judiciously. Parents are to be advised of any school activity that requires the use of food well in advance of the project or activity. In classes where children have peanut or nut allergies, the school requests that foods including those products not be brought into the classroom.
Flu Information. Get the flu vaccine at school! Seasonal flu vaccination clinics will be held during the school day at the Newton Public Schools in October and November. Annual JBW Walk for Health and DIabetes Awareness Annually, rain or shine, ason-Rice students, faculty and interested parents will walk together around Crystal Lake to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise wareness about type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Research has shown that regular excercise helps all individuals lead healthier and more productive lives. Exercise helps prevent obesity, a leading risk factor in the onset of type 2 diabetes. November is Diabetes Awareness Month. It is hoped that our walk will raise awareness within our community. Look for the Annual JBW Walk on the Mason-Rice School Calendar in October/November.
